This past week, we spent in the City of Lights, Paris. In fact, Valentines Day, we went up the Eiffel Tower. The spot where more proposals happen than anywhere in Europe. We were without internet during the vacation. Actually I forgot the power cord to the computer so God made us spend a week without a computer. What a blessing.
The tower when it was built in 1889 was the tallest structure in the world at the time. It was surpassed by the Empire State Building. When it was built, it was supposed to be temporary as it was for the World's Fair. The Parisians hated it because it was ugly and without style. Boy are we glad they didn't tear it down now.
We had an awesome Valentine's Day. While we rode to the top, James and I walked down from the tower all 700+ steps. The weather, while cold was awesome and sunny. We didn't actually see any proposals during our time at the tower but there were many couples so I am sure we just missed it. The good news was that Elaine decided to marry me. So, she did say yes!!!
